HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, chair of Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP), has launched their latest innovative initiative on Metaverse, a center that combines multiple virtual spaces to provide users with an unparalleled digital and cultural experience.

This center was launched during the International Day of Tolerance which is an annual observance day declared by UNESCO in 1995 to raise public awareness about the dangers of intolerance.

This is not the first time Saudi Arabia has experimented with Metaverse; in February, the country launched Hajj on Metaverse, and people were eager to experience Hajj through virtual reality. Many investors have expressed their thoughts on the future of the metaverse in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative is in line with AP’s mission to bridge cultural divides and pave the way for global communities to become more open and tolerant, using disruptive 3D technology to spread their message around the world and connect with the younger generation.

Alwaleed Philanthropies is one of the first Saudi philanthropic organizations to meaningfully activate the metaverse with a social purpose and mission to spread the message of tolerance, cultural exchange, and inclusivity from the physical to the digital world.

Alwaleed Philanthropies Secretary General HRH Princess Lamia bint Majed Al Saud said:

“Alwaleed Philanthropies is committed to mobilizing collective efforts to expose minds and dismantle borders because we believe in an open world and operate on the principle of making a difference in people’s lives around the world. Our commitment to humanity is to always be on the lookout for new approaches as we build bridges for greater cultural understanding and tolerance. Alwaleed Philanthropies initiates and collaborates with a variety of philanthropic, governmental, and educational organizations to combat poverty, empower women and youth, develop communities, provide disaster relief, and foster cultural understanding. “

Alwaleed Philanthropies is committed to exploring new channels and technologies that empower people and highlight important causes on a continuous basis. It is important to note that this center will reflect all of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ focus areas and is only the beginning of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ plans for the metaverse.

The experience was live on the Decentraland platform, and attendees were able to explore the multi-story building, which showcased elements of historical stories while connecting diverse cultures. The creation of the digital experience was inspired by AP’s mandate since its inception over four decades ago to build and nurture tolerance throughout humanity.
