Renowned pet brand, Pedigree Petfoods, has revealed a pioneer program that is designed to tackle pet homelessness.
What is Pedigree?
Pedigree is a brand of dog food and treats that is owned by Mars, Inc., a large multinational corporation. The brand offers a variety of products, including dry kibble, wet food, and dental chews, that are formulated to meet the nutritional needs of dogs of all ages and sizes. From various purchases by dog-enthusiastic customers, Pedigree has donated more than $12 million to Pedigree Foundation in a bid to help all dogs find a stable and loving home that lasts forever.
Pedigree Launches An Initiative For Pet Homelessness
Fosterverse is a brand new initiative that will assist dogs in need and allow actual dogs to be digitally raised up in the metaverse. People that own a virtual property will be able to access such opportunities for dog adoption.
According to a recent report by The Zebra, ownership of dogs has increased by 39% in the last decade. The report also states that about 3.3 million dogs stay in shelters. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the planet, about 50% of dogs in shelters have not yet been adopted.
With the Fosterverse initiative, Decentraland landowners will be able to adopt and raise actual rescue dogs on their digital property. To do so, these users must upload a three-dimensional (3D) avatar inspired by real-life dogs currently indexed on Adopt A Pet. Once they are done uploading these 3D avatars on their Decentraland properties, owners will be able to engage with their new buddies in the metaverse. Here, they would learn the dogsā backgrounds, adoption status, and how they can be cared for.
Through Adopt A Pet, interested parties can adopt the dogs they meet in Fosterverse! Pedigree Foundation also takes donations from people who are interested in supporting similar adoptable animals in need to meet its $100,000 target.
Thanks to Fosterverse, dog lovers will be able to connect with several dogs situated around the world. Animal lovers supporting the initiative can receive Fosterverse wearables in the metaverse.
