Lufthansa is a major player in aviation with various travel options. Their loyalty program called Miles & More is one of their sustainability initiatives and boasts of more than 36 million registered members.
As proof of its continued dedication to customer service, the airline company has introduced a new initiative on Polygon. This offers passengers the ability to convert their trips into NFTs through a loyalty program called Uptrip.
What is Uptrip?
Uptrip is the product of the partnership between Lufthansa Innovation Hub, Miles & More, and Polygon PoS network. Every flight will be a collage of experiences with Uptrip, and passengers will be gifted NFT trading cards for every flight taken.
To enjoy Uptrip, users will need to link their personal wallets. This will enable them to create, transfer, and exchange Uptrip Trading Cards in the form of NFTs.
Every collection has its own set of cards; when a passenger completes one, he/she will earn exclusive rewards. These rewards include the access to business lounges, free miles, and the chance to unlock higher traveler status.
Diverse Card Options & Exclusive Experiences
Passengers can select from a wide range of cards. These cards can take them to different cities, like Singapore, Lisbon, New York, and more. Passengers can also choose from various airplanes, like the Airbus A320, Boeing 747, and Embraer 190.
There are special cards that let passengers do unique things, like crossing the North Pole. It is all part of an exclusive experience powered by Web3 technology.
Kristian Weymar, the Director of New Business at Lufthansa Innovation Hub, mentioned that Web3 is in its early stages, generating curiosity. He stated that this has raised questions and hesitations which Uptrip addresses by enabling people to access this new technology.
After the soft launch, more than 20,000 individuals have signed up, and over 200,000 trading cards have been distributed.
Lufthansa’s introduction of digital collectibles through Uptrip is a testament to the aviation industry’s adoption of Web3 technologies. This trend which is exemplified by airlines, like Volaris, Flybondi, and Vueling, promises passengers enhanced experiences.
If you love travelling and learning new cultures, you can consider Lufthansa’s loyalty program.
