It’s known that Atari is one of the biggest owners of virtual real estate in The Sandbox. Recently, Atari has launched an ambitious experience: Sunnyvale, where players can gather in the virtual place and play Atari’s various games from its golden age.

However, that’s not all. Atari has partnered with Animoca Brands and owned The Sandbox in the Atari Game Jam event. The Game Jam is now being held in The Sandbox Metaverse.

Atari has been accommodating game builders since 1972, and The Sandbox partnership aims to carry this legacy to the Metaverse.

According to The Sandbox, Atari Game Jam can enable game builders to “get creative” and “build their wildest dreams” by using and combining Atari’s two of 17 IPs that are now available in the Sandbox to create their uniquely customized experience.

Starting on September 19th, 2022, Atari Game Jam will end on November 12th, 2022. Game builders can submit their worlds until October 16th, 2022, at 3 pm UTC.

Atari’s available IPs for game builders to recreate in the Sandbox are listed as:

The Game Jam is not only about creativity and fun. The Sandbox has prepared to give rewards to top entries. A total amount of 30,000 $SAND will be split among the entries.

How To Participate In Atari Game Jam

The Sandbox announced the entry requirements for Atari Game Jam. Game builders can submit their entries if designed in the Game Maker software. The game length should be at least 5 minutes, and be created at least 25 different assets that are designed by the applicants themselves.

The Sandbox will be using the Game Maker “Gallery” feature as a form for submissions. Game builders can use this form to submit their entries.

As expected, the experience must be created after the start date of September 19th, 2022, so any experiences built for previous game jams cannot be used.
