After NFTs emerged, its market was booming. So many projects and brands were bought and sold at high prices. However, with so many NFTs in the market and even so many fraud projects looking for an easy cash grab, the NFT market crashed in the recent past. Many believe this recent crash is good since it will eventually weed out fraudsters and bad projects while better projects will gain their true value.

While we wait for what the future will bring to the NFT market, some NFT projects have started to be seen in the gaming industry. These new NFT-implemented games, especially AAA games, will most likely change the course of both the gaming industry and crypto.

So, what are these new NFTs that sprout in AAA games? Here are some of the NFT projects implemented in games you may be interested in:

Epic Games’ Ventures

Not only Epic Games Store has launched the first NFT game Blankos Block Party but it also invested in a metaverse technology company. Epic Games’ eyes seem to be on merging blockchain technology and the gaming industry.

Blankos Block Party, developed by Mythical Games, is a free-to-play multiplayer party game themed around collecting digital vinyl toys known as Blankos, that might be bought, upgraded, and sold inside the game.Third Kind Games and Mythical Games worked together to create the game.

NFT Implementation On Minecraft

Although Minecraft’s developers Mojang Studios opposed the idea of NFT implementation on their game, MyMetaverse succeeded to implement NFTs into their own Minecraft server along with their Grand Theft Auto Online server.

Implementing NFTs without violating these games’ rules and regulations, MyMetaverse managed to introduce NFTs by making them in a play-to-earn method without having any pay-to-win NFTs. The CEO of MyMetaverse, Simon Kertonegoro, stated that:

“We wanted to show Mojang that it could be done in a way that benefited them and benefited their player base and benefited the gaming industry as a whole. It’s obviously not you know, it’s not the fastest way to get people jumping in your server. […] But we knew that that was the right way to do it.”

Ubisoft’s Integration Of NFTs Into Their Games

In 2021, the makers of world-famous Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft, announced their own NFT platform Ubisoft Quartz where players can buy “Digits” to use on their AAA game Ghost Recon Breakpoint. However, this news backlashed in the gaming community as their plan for NFTs was arguably different than real NFTs. These Digits were rather virtual items that offered limited ownership to players.

However, it seems Ubisoft is determined to integrate NFTs into its franchises. Recently, they announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a platform where players can play all the franchise games. This platform is also an open the door to implementing NFTs, but Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed whether they implement NFTs through Infinity.

Despite having any real confirmation of how Ubisoft implement NFTs into their games, they are keen to work on that. Nowadays, Ubisoft is in “research mode”on blockchain and NFTs to find a good way to integrate NFTs. As the CEO Yves Guillemot said:

“So we are testing ground with some games, and we’ll see if they really answer the players’ needs. But we are still in research mode, I would say”

Upcoming Game Projects

There are many upcoming AAA game projects since many big names from the gaming industry have ventured into the blockchain world. One of them is Revolving Games’ upcoming Battlestar Galactica themed 4x strategy MMO. After the latest seed funding round that was also joined by the co-founder of Rockstar Games, we believe Revolving Games will put out a stunning AAA blockchain game.

Moreover, the co-founder of Immutable, Robbie Ferguson tweeted on September 13, 2022, that two AAA studios had begun developing games for the Immutable X platform. One of the games will be shown on the next month
