Global music and entertainment company Warner Music Group(WMG) started a partnership on Sept 29th with the world’s leading peer-to-peer marketplace for NFTs, OpenSea. Their goal is to create a platform for select WMG artists to build and extend their fanbase into the Web3 community.
WMG artists will have early access to OpenSea’s newly released feature that allows artists to launch their NFT collections and limited edition projects on their customized landing pages. Their collaboration will also unlock dedicated support and best practices with the help of the OpenSea team.
“Fundamental to music’s DNA is community – it’s artists and fans coming together to celebrate the music they love. Our collaboration with OpenSea helps to facilitate these communities by unlocking Web3 tools and resources to build opportunities for artists to establish deeper engagement, access, and ownership.”
Says WMG Chief Digital Officer and EVP Oana Ruxandra. The partnership involves OpenSea just as much as WMG, as OpenSea’s vice president of product Shiva Rajaraman explains how NFTs could represent a new creative medium that’ll subject fan communities on OpenSea to new forms of connection and creativity. Artists may also engage directly with their fans and express themselves across borders and languages
“For artists and musicians, NFTs represent a new creative medium and a mechanism to build community, engage directly with fans, and express themselves across borders and languages.”
Comments Shiva Rajaraman. The first collection of music NFTs is currently in its development stage with the help of Web3 company Probably Nothing.
This collaboration isn’t the first of its kind for WMG, as it has been working towards partnering with some of the top players in Web3 for the last few years.
This is the most recent collaboration for WMG and expresses the company’s efforts to build out its expertise in the Web3 space.
