Ether Domain Name Services (EDNS) is excited to announce its new partnership with Alibaba Cloud, to explore Web3 and the potential of decentralized domain name services. 

What is EDNS?

EDNS is the first domain name service on the Ethereum Blockchain, allowing users to register, transfer, and manage domain names on the blockchain. EDNS, or Extension Mechanisms for Domain Name System (DNS), is a set of extensions to the DNS protocol that enable additional functionality and improve the performance of the DNS system. It was designed to allow DNS clients and servers to communicate more efficiently and effectively, and to enable new types of DNS functionality.

One of the main goals of EDNS is to enable larger DNS payloads, which allows DNS servers to handle more data in a single DNS packet. This can be useful in situations where the amount of data being transmitted exceeds the maximum size of a standard DNS packet, or where the data is too large to be transmitted efficiently using the standard DNS protocol.

Alibaba Cloud to work together with EDNS

The partnership was made official at a workshop themed “The Power of Web 3.0”. By collaborating with Alibaba Cloud, EDNS will be able to leverage its expertise in distributed ledger technologies and develop a decentralized domain name system that is secure, reliable, and cost-effective. 

EDNS, which is the biggest cloud service provider in the Asia Pacific, will be able to develop and deploy a blockchain-based domain name service on the cloud, which will provide users with the ability to register, transfer, and manage domain names on the blockchain in a more secure and cost-effective manner.

Alibaba Cloud and EDNS aim to provide a secure, reliable, and cost-effective domain name service to users around the world. The service will also enable users to take advantage of Web3 technologies, such as smart contracts and decentralized applications and tokens. 

The CEO of EDNS, Joey Lam, stated:
