In a now deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), BitPay announced that XRP could be used for payments in supported games on Xsolla. The company mentioned the popular free-to-play games Roblox and Smite.
However, in a recent development, Roblox has denied BitPay’s announcement. After Roblox’s announcement, BitPay deleted the tweet.
Roblox confirmed that several news articles had reported certain information inaccurately. The team behind Roblox clarified that it does not support cryptocurrencies, like XRP, as a payment method while Xsolla is one of their payment providers.
BitPay’s CMO Bill Zielke admitted that there was a mistake in the post. However, he assured that there would be more announcements about merchants accepting crypto in the near future.
Accepted Means of Payment on Roblox
Roblox offers a variety of payment methods to cater to the diverse needs of its user base. They include all major credit and debit cards, prepaid credit cards, and PayPal. Also, Roblox gift cards were introduced by Xsolla in 2020 as a means of payment.
Moreover, users can make in-app purchases via mobile apps, including Google Play for Android users, iTunes for iOS users, and Amazon. Xbox One players are not left out, they can make payments through the Roblox Xbox One App or Xbox Live website.
It is essential to note that each purchase must be paid in full with one payment method. This ensures a streamlined payment process and helps in effectively managing transactions.
