Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club, announced recently the acquisition of the well-known startup WENEW Labs and with it, 10KTF, their flagship project.
About WENEW and 10KTF
WENEW is a Web3 ecosystem co-founded by the famous artist Mike Winkelmann, best known as “Beeple” and other well-known figures in the space, like Guy Oseary and Michael Figge. In their short life span, they have managed to concrete partnerships with Web2 brands, like Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
What makes this deal even juicer is the acquisition of 10KTF, an Ethereum-based project that revolves around WAGMI-Sam a fictional tailor that creates digital merchandising for various high-value profile pictures (PFP) projects, like BAYC, Moonbirds, and more.
Don´t worry about the team, as Michael Figge, co-founder and former CEO of WENEW, will join Yuga’s leadership team as the chief content officer, Beeple will take a major role as an advisor and ambassador of the project.
Bring value to the Otherside
It seems that Yuga is truly looking to diversify its portfolio with its newest acquisition and empower Otherside, its gamified, interoperable metaverse under development. The game blends mechanics from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and Web3-enabled virtual worlds.
Greg Solano, the co-founder of Yuga Labs, stated that “Storytelling and world-building are foundational at Yuga and I’m thrilled that we get to work with the creative mind hive at WENEW in a much more robust way. The possibilities of what we can do together are endless.”
