As you know, we are exposed to global warming and climate change. With human beings, a lot of plants and animals are also encountering the big climate crisis. Due to this current circumstance, our beloved planet is slowly dying.
We say ‘stop’ to the crisis to give a livable planet to future generations. But, how can we do that? For answering this question, blockchain technology is shining like a star.
The technology sector is developing day by day, and we are dealing with different technological hardware and software. Some of these developments, like blockchain technology, can build a bridge between the technology world and sustainability. With this bridge, we can easily fight with the climate crisis. Now, we want to dive in the possible usages of blockchain for resisting the climate crisis and protecting the environment.
How To Use Blockchain Technology For Finishing Climate Crisis
Thanks to blockchain’s decentralized structure and transparency, it can be utilized in various fields to decrease the effects of climate change and global warming. These fields involve recycling, supply chains, and so on.
Recycling
Wastes, especially plastics, support the current climate crisis. Also, various human activities cause the rise in greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, and then, the crisis gains strength. At that point, recycling shows itself to save energy and decrease the amount of wastes.

Shopping from global companies is not good for the Earth because these companies can lie about the used materials and chemicals and the place where they release their garbage. The attitude towards employees in these companies and the road between us and the companies are other significant issues.
For solving the supply chain problem, blockchain technology can be used effectively. For example, this technology can be utilized to track the road of a product from the manufacturer to the shelf. Consumers who check the road via blockchain technology can prefer local products to decrease carbon emissions.
Food Trax is an example to the supply chain issue. This project is using blockchain technology for transparency of food’s supply chains.
Non-profits
There are a lot of non-profit organizations that help people, environment, animals, plants, and so on. Donating to these organizations is important to improve the Earth. However, we sometimes cannot track our donations due to bureaucracy, inefficient processes, and centralization. At that point, blockchain technology shows itself!
Blockchain technology can develop non-profit environmental organizations. This technology does not depend on banking, so people living in a region without the necessary banking infrastructure can donate to these organizations effectively.
Furthermore, thanks to the transparency of blockchain technology, people can track where their money goes and how it is spent by the organization clearly and quickly.
Shortly, this technology can solve the problems deriving from the existence of centralized authority in non-profits.
